This Warranty Policy outlines the terms of our one-year workmanship warranty, applicable to all services provided, including but not limited to assembly, interior/exterior maintenance, painting, and smart home installations. By engaging our services, you (“Customer,” “you”) agree to this policy. For inquiries or warranty claims, contact us at (847) 996-0096 or via thehandyhomehero.com. This policy complies with the Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act (815 ILCS 513) and other applicable laws.
1.1. Workmanship Warranty: HomeHero warrants that all labor performed for services (e.g., furniture assembly, drywall repair, smart lock installation) will be free from defects in workmanship for one (1) year from the date of job completion (“Warranty Period”). This warranty covers labor-related issues, such as improper installation or faulty repairs, for services detailed on thehandyhomehero.com.
1.2. Covered Services: Applies to all HomeHero services, including but not limited to:
2.1. Claim Submission: To initiate a warranty claim, contact HomeHero within 30 days of discovering the issue, but no later than the end of the Warranty Period, via (847) 996-0096 or thehandyhomehero.com.
Provide:
2.2. Inspection: HomeHero will schedule an inspection within a reasonable timeframe, subject to the priority system (Section 3). If the issue is determined to be a labor defect, HomeHero will repair or redo the work at no cost to the Customer, limited to the original service scope.
2.3. Diagnostic Fee: A $50 diagnostic fee applies to warranty inspections. The fee is refunded if the issue is a covered labor defect or applied as a credit toward new paid services if the issue is non-warranty (e.g., material defect, misuse).
2.4. Resolution: HomeHero reserves the right to determine the appropriate remedy (e.g., repair, re-performance). If no defect is found or the issue falls under exclusions (Section 1.3), the Customer is responsible for any additional service costs at standard rates ($50–$75/hour).
2.5. Limitation of Liability: HomeHero’s liability is limited to the cost of the original service. We are not liable for consequential, incidental, or indirect damages (e.g., property damage from non-warranty issues) or costs incurred by third-party repairs without HomeHero’s prior approval.
3.1. Priority System: Warranty claims accompanied by additional paid services (e.g., $150 painting, $80 gutter cleaning) receive priority scheduling within one (1) week, subject to availability. Standalone warranty claims are scheduled within 2–3 weeks. HomeHero reserves the right to adjust scheduling based on operational demands.
3.2. Incentives: Customers booking additional services with a warranty claim receive a 10–15% discount on the new services, per standard pricing policies.
3.3. Verification: HomeHero will verify the original job and additional services before scheduling. Customers must provide proof of service (e.g., invoice) for warranty claims.
4.1. Access and Safety: Customers must provide safe, unobstructed access to the work area, free of hazards (e.g., pets, clutter). Failure to do so may void the warranty or incur additional fees (e.g., $50 rescheduling fee).
4.2. Maintenance: Customers must maintain the serviced area per HomeHero’s recommendations (e.g., avoiding abrasive cleaners on $200–$600 deck refinishing). Failure to follow maintenance guidelines voids the warranty.
4.3. Material Quality: Customers are responsible for ensuring customer-supplied materials (e.g., paint for $150–$800 painting, smart devices for $100–$350 installations) meet industry standards. HomeHero is not liable for issues arising from substandard materials.
4.4. Permits: For services requiring permits (e.g., certain exterior repairs, per Lake County Code of Ordinances, Title 15), Customers must obtain and comply with all permits. HomeHero is not liable for non-compliance.
5.1. Illinois Law: This warranty complies with the Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act (815 ILCS 513), ensuring transparency and consumer rights. Customers may request a “Consumer Rights” brochure during quoting.
5.2. Licensing Restrictions: Per Illinois law (225 ILCS 317, 410 ILCS 705), HomeHero does not perform new electrical wiring, major plumbing, or other licensed work. Warranty claims for referred contractor work are subject to those contractors’ policies.
5.3. Force Majeure: HomeHero is not liable for warranty delays due to events beyond our control (e.g., severe weather, supply shortages).
6.1. Process: Warranty disputes must be reported within 7 days of service or inspection via (847) 996-0096 or thehandyhomehero.com. HomeHero will attempt to resolve disputes amicably within 30 days.
6.2. Governing Law: This policy is governed by Illinois law. Unresolved disputes shall be addressed in Lake County, IL courts, per 735 ILCS 5.

Building permits are required for most home improvement projects except for those that are purely cosmetic such as painting and flooring. Generally, structural work to your property requires a permit. This includes decks, patios, balconies, and roofing. Additionally, electrical work, rewiring, and plumbing may necessitate a permit.
